Almost all of Slobodan’s career has been back end software development. Recently, Slobodan has been challenged with User Interface design on his projects which prompted him to pursue a degree in Interactive Web and Media Design at the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg. Slobodan brings you the “Design Guide” page which is a mix of his studies and applied techniques in real world applications.
The web has grown so big that its now on our televisions. The rules are changing, we are finding better ways to communicate content to multiple devices. The days of formatting layout with tables is history and we are expected to use typefaces that are not standard with browsers. We are in a multimedia world where we can express information in many ways. Some examples are video, animation, icons, images/photography, typography and rendering it all dynamically.
Graphic Designers have solved a lot of our issues we face in web design today in the printing world. Our clients demand balanced and consistent designs to match their printed versions. I’m here to help us get XPages there. Other solutions cannot come close because developers on other platforms are deep into the coding. XPages is a rapid application environment that allows us to quickly bring a business application to its users. We can beat the competition with proper design principles. A application that is pleasant to look at and fun to use will be used often.
